गुरु पूर्णिमा के दिन साधक को ब्रह्ममुहूर्त में उठकर स्नान करना चाहिए और फिर पीले या सफेद रंग के वस्त्र पहनने चाहिए। इस दिन पवित्र नदी में स्नान करना लाभकारी सिद्ध होता है।

इसके बाद एक तांबे के लोटे में जल, सिंदूर और लाल फूल डालकर सूर्य को अर्घ्य दें। इसके साथ ही अपने आराध्य की विधिवत पूजा कर लें।

Verse 1
On Guru Purnima, the devotee should wake up in the Brahma Muhurta, take a bath, and then wear yellow or white colored clothes. Bathing in a holy river on this day is considered beneficial.
Verse 2
After this, offer Arghya to the Sun God by pouring water, sindoor, and red flowers from a copper pot. Along with this, perform the ritualistic worship of your chosen deity.

If your Guru lives nearby, go to their home, touch their feet, offer some gifts, clothes, and dakshina, and seek their blessings.

If the Guru is not in this world, then worship the 'charan paduka' (footwear) of the Guru in their place.
