Amavasya holds immense religious and spiritual significance. Amavasya is the day when people pray for their ancestors and perform Tarpan for them. This day is considered very auspicious for the worship of ancestors. It is said that by performing worship and charity on this date, a person's life remains filled with happiness. Along with this, success is achieved in all endeavors.

Idol or picture of Lord Shiva, Gangaajal, milk, curd, honey, desi ghee, Dhatura flowers, Belpatra, sandalwood, lamp, puja utensils, puja thali, incense, fruits, seasonal fruits, sweets, Naivedya, etc.

Wake up early in the morning and take a bath in the Ganga river, or take a holy bath at home by mixing Gangaajal in your bathing water. Clean the house before starting the worship rituals.
Verse 4
Prepare sattvic food for the Brahmin. Elder members of the family should invite the Brahmin and perform Pitru Tarpan. Feed the Brahmin and donate clothes, shoes, etc., along with Dakshina (offering). Touch the Brahmin's feet and seek blessings.

Feed cows, dogs, crows, and ants.
